IN PROGRESS: DEXTER'S INN, PROVINCETOWN
Kevin O'Shea Designs is transforming this historic 15 bedroom inn located in the heart of Provincetown into the town's first boutique Inn with full renovations on guestrooms, guestbaths, public spaces and outdoor guest areas. The project is being completed in two phases with Phase One being completed for the 2012 season. The design aims to add historic charm back into the building which was stripped of all historic detail when converted to a guesthouse in the 1960's. Kevin has used early 19th century dune shacks and the rich decorative history of Cape Cod in a unique way to create a design that is both rich in tecture but fresh and minimal, enveloping guests in true Cape Cod experience. -
IN PROGRESS: The Martin House Cape Cod
Built in 1750 The Martin House is an incredible piece of history at the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The home has had a colorful history over its 260 year existence including serving as a fine dining restaurant for the past 30 years. Last Summer Kevin O'Shea Designs began the extensive transformation of the proeprty back to a single family home. Borrowing on the rich aesthetic traditions of Cape Cod, Kevin has created a signature interior he describes as "Modern American Colonial". The project has included an extensive renovation and restoration of the house, including the construction of new bedrooms, bathrooms, and a reinterpretation of the commercial kitchen. The project is slated for completion in the Spring of 2011. -
A Wedding Registry Apartment
My client for this project approached me to design her one bedroom apartment that she shares with her fiancé in New York City. The interesting part of this request was that she wanted the design elements to be procured through her wedding registry and have her guests help make my vision a reality. The couple wanted a sophisticated space that they could enjoy as newlyweds both on their own and entertaining friends. A new space plan gave them a dining area they currently don't have, and lots of new flexible seating throughout the apartment. New lighting, soft goods, occasional furniture and decorative accessories all came together to create a fresh modern apartment perfect for the vibrant couple. -
SKY TERRACE AT HUDSON HOTEL
Kevin O'Shea transformed the 15th floor Sky Terrace at the venerable Hudson Hotel into a secret garden amongst the skyscrapers of midtown Manhattan. Inspired by English garden design and the whimsy of Philippe Starck's hotel interiors the terrace serves as the perfect spot for sunset cocktails. The terrace was outfitted with all new furniture and fixtures including a full renovation of the conservatory bar. -
Executive Office Midtown Manhattan
Our client for this project is a busy Music Industry executive and she wanted an office that defied tradition and that is just what we gave her! Brights colors, rich patterns and a "residential" approach to furniture layout and selections created a space that is truly unique in corporate New York City. -
